Geospatial Developers Forum 2009

Developers form a distinct and resourceful community within the greater geospatial community. They customise Geographical Information Systems, GIS for various businesses. The customisation tools and techniques have been changing from over the years and this change has become very rapid in recent times. This provides innumerable opportunities for developers to integrate GI analysis in to various businesses in innovative ways. Today GI is integrated with News, Weather, and Consumer Businesses and in Web 2.0 applications like Blogging, Social Networking, to name a few.

However, such applications are not limited to the existing Geospatial Developers’ community. The mainstream IT developers also have opportunities of integrating Geographic Information and allied services with service areas like Business Intelligence, Web & Mobile services.

Looking at this increasing use of GI and the expanding horizons of GI-software applications, there is a need for networking and communications within and across the developers’ communities.

The Geospatial Developers Forum addresses such a need and provides a platform to developers to discuss technical challenges across systems, domains and nations and to interact among themselves as well as with other members of the industry. Developers participating in this one-day event can benefit by interacting and networking, exploring the opportunities to share experiences and widen their horizons by learning about new tools and platforms for collaboration.
