WORKSHOP ON FUNDAMENTALS OF INTERFEROMETRIC SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR (IFSAR) BY EARTHDATA INTERNATIONAL
The Workshop will be of interest to geospatial professionals in government, the private sector, and education who wish to understand the latest state-of art technology in the mapping world.
Workshop Details
Like lidar, Airborne Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR or InSAR) is a hot topic in remote sensing, and the corresponding use of IFSAR derived products is growing rapidly.
The workshop will broadly address the fundamental of IFSAR, data acquisition techniques, processing, and product development. There will be a section on IFSAR systems configuration, which demonstrates the latest technological advances, such as p-band with its jungle canopy penetrating capabilities and the integration of independent lidar technology on to the same platform. There will be an additional section on applications such as; Base Mapping, Disaster Planning (inc. flood risk assessment & mitigation, landslip/slide modeling), ‘real’ 3-D visualizations, Natural Resource & Agricultural Applications, and National Security & Defence Applications. Special attention is devoted to the creation of Digital Elevation Models and radar imagery.
A CD containing additional information about this technology, including sample data, will complement the workshop.
Intended Audience: - Geospatially Aware, but General Audience
Materials: Course material (handouts) will be supplied
Presenters: Skip Maselli & Alistair Strachan of EarthData International
