Availability of cost effective
computer hardware,
software and spatial database has led to the scaling
down of the threshold barrier to GIS implementation
during the last couple of decades. One has also
witnessed the increased availability of skilled human
resources that has led to implementation of GIS in utility
services, infrastructure projects, agriculture, environment, natural resource
management etc. This
plenary session will focus on project case studies from
selected vertical application segment, highlighting the
cost of implementing GIS, its short-term benefits and
the expected long term profits. The session also seeks
to draw attention to the intangible benefits accruing to
an organisation through the use of geospatial tools and
data. |
