Geospatial tools offer technical and economic benefits to the petroleum and mining industry. They improve the business processes through better data
sharing and more accurate mapping, and support "business process re-
engineering", where the technical professionals redefine their activities and are
able to access data in new ways.
In view of this, GIS Development is organising a two day event during Map World Forum 2009 on the usage of Geospatial technologies and applications in the different sections of
Petroleum and Mining industry. Geospatial technologies and its application can
provide benefits (operational and economical) to the exploration, production and
distribution companies from the oil & gas sector and mining industry. These also
help in studying the environmental impacts, do the risk management and
rehabilitation required on account of exploration activities.
The two day event at the Map World forum shall consist of technical presentations
and panel discussions. The tentative topics for technical presentations could be,
- Geospatial in Exploration and Production
- Geospatial in Distribution, facility and retail management
- Managing and Mitigating the impacts of exploration and mining activities
- Rehabilitation planning activities on account of exploration and mining activities
and the panel discussion could be arranged on,
- Issues of Petroleum industry
- Issues of Mining industry
The conference shall provide the participants with useful insight into the potential of Geospatial as a tool to prove instant access to information, increased efficiency, and improved decision-making capabilities.
